Porsche Hangout started in 2014, built by a Porsche enthusiast for Porsche enthusiasts. What began as a place to share stories, photos and discussion grew into one of the larger independent Porsche communities online, with a Facebook following well over 100,000 strong.
Along the way we kept noticing the same thing. Owners did not just want to read about Porsches, they wanted real answers about their own car. What do these option codes mean? How many were built in this colour? Is this VIN really what the seller says it is? What is the car actually worth?
So we shifted our focus. Today Porsche Hangout is a tools-first resource, built around one rule: type a thing, get an answer. No signup, no paywall, no friction.

Porsche Hangout is not affiliated with Porsche AG. We are an independent, enthusiast-run site. We are not a dealer and we do not sell cars. The tools stay free because the site is supported by advertising and by a small number of partners whose products genuinely fit our audience of owners, buyers and sellers. We only work with partners we would happily recommend to a friend with a Porsche in the garage.

I am Ian G, founder of Porsche Hangout and currently President of the Porsche Club of America, Gold Coast Region, for the 2025/26 term. I have been a PCA member since 2013 and a Porsche enthusiast since childhood.
My own Porsche history runs deep. Over the years I have owned a 2003 996 Carrera (C2) and a 2003 996 Turbo, the latter a Mezger-engined car tuned to around 530 horsepower. Today I run a 997.2 Turbo S, the white one you see on the homepage, and a Macan GTS. From a built 996 Turbo to a current Turbo S, that hands-on ownership is the real-world experience behind every tool on this site. The Option Code Decoder exists because I wanted to know what every M-code on my own build sticker meant.

Porsche owners are spoiled for community. The forums are deep and full of expertise. But finding a clean, fast, free tool to do a specific lookup, without ads stacked above the fold, without a paywall, without a signup, has always been harder than it should be. That is the gap Porsche Hangout fills.
The goal is simple: to build the most useful free tools anywhere for Porsche owners, and to be the first place someone thinks of when they have a question about their car. Everything we build comes back to that.
