porsche hangout Porsche Macan S | A Porsche For The Whole Family

Porsche-Macan-S

Since its launch, the Porsche Macan has faced much of the same backlash as the Panamera and Cayenne received when they were first brought to market. The backlash has been from enthusiasts who see the addition of the Macan as Porsche further diluting their DNA and moving away from Porsche’s roots as a sports car company. However, as the demand for more small SUVs continues to grow, the Macan has seen itself become Porsche’s best selling vehicle.

Best Seller For A Reason

The Macan’s success isn’t pure luck, as Porsche hasn’t just reskinned its platform mate, the Audi Q5. Rather, they’ve taken what makes the platform great for SUVs, and with the Macan S they’ve added their own flair to make sure it still drives like any S-model Porsche should. While the 911 is a fantastic car to drive alone or with a significant other, the Macan lets you experience the same driving pleasure, but with the whole family (and the dog) in the back, which makes the Macan S the perfect family vehicle.

Performance Like A Porsche

In the Macan S, you’ll find a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 pumping out 349 BHP mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox that propels the Macan S from 0-60mph in just 5.1 seconds. To make sure the Macan S is as planted as possible on the road, it makes use of a Porsche specific suspension that has a far more distinctive sporty feel than the Audi Q5. If you are truly looking for a family car that can attack the corners, there is an option to upgrade to Porsche Active Suspension Management. This allows you to actively adjust the stiffness of the suspension, allowing the Macan S to effortlessly change from a city cruiser to a track weapon.

Space For All

This is where the Macan truly shines. Considering it is smaller than it’s big sibling the Cayenne, interior space isn’t compromised, having plenty of head and leg room for the driver and front passenger. The central armrest can be adjusted forward and backwards, and acts as a center storage with a usb socket, which makes it ideal for storing phones. In the back, the Macan features several cupholders, door bins and map pockets on the back of the front seats.

The center of the rear seats fold down to allow access to the trunk area as well giving you loading options without sacrificing a rear seat. The trunk lid is electrically powered, allowing the driver to open and close the trunk from their seat. The trunk itself has a volume of 500 liters, the trunk floor is flush with the load lip, and with a removable trunk cover, can be used to transport pets.

Technology Central

As you’d expect from any modern luxury car, the Macan S doesn’t skimp on the technology front. As soon as you jump into the Macan’s front seats, you’ll notice they are electrically controlled with 8-way adjustment. The dial cluster feature a screen that allows the driver to receive all kinds of information from tire pressures to map directions. All this information can also be accessed by the dash mounted 10.9 inch infotainment touch screen.

The infotainment screen is linked to standard front and rear parking sensors and can be used with the optional rear and surround cameras, and comes standard with sat-nav, usb inputs, bluetooth, DAB radio and Apple CarPlay, with an 11 speaker sound system.

Easy To Maintain

The Macan comes with your choice of service plan with the standard being 2 year/20,000 miles. With Porsche opting to utilize platform sharing with Volkswagen, Porsche has made the Macan easy and cheap to repair and maintain. Many of the Macan’s parts are shared with both the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan R which makes the availability of OEM and Manufacturer parts readily available.

Ready For The Future

Porsche has announced that the Macan will be their next mass produced fully electric vehicle, after the Taycan. The Electric Macan will be powered by Porsche’s PPE Architecture (Premium platform Electric) 800V technology, with Porsche promising the electric Macan will carry every part of their Sports car DNA.

While the Electric Macan is slated for a 2020 release, the 2019 Macan S is available now, with the Macan Configurator already available on Porsches website.
